After much deliberation, I have finally gotten around to starting a blog! I have always been one to keep a journal, but writing in a blog will be quite a new experience for me. To me, writing is usually something more personal and reflective. I think the world would benefit from more people being authentic and open, so I’d like to do so myself. I figure the Peace Corps is the nudge I need to use writing as a mode for sharing and connecting while away 🙂
There is plenty that I could say as I am about to embark on this journey, but sitting here in LA, about to depart for my flight, I’d prefer to share the words of Marianne Williamson:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
I feel so ready for this journey. I feel ready to learn, ready to be scared, ready to experience new things, ready to be challenged… I’m ready to jump outside of my comfort zone, because that’s the place where possibility lives and potential flourishes. So off I go, past fear and doubt, with a calm confidence and assurance that I am capable– and so excited to show me what I’m made of 😉
